Notes

[1] Licensed game endorsed by 1980s/90s double French Boxing champion, World Full Contact champion and 6 times World Kickboxing champion André Panza.

[2] Coding by Nicolas Massonnat and Pascal Jarry. Graphics/animation & photography/video management by Marco de Florès; fight moves modelling & kickboxing sports consultancy by André Panza. Music/sound FX by Michel Winogradoff.

[3] Distributed by Loriciel in France and marketed/distributed by U.S. Gold in the UK & rest of Europe.

[4] Game manual contains basic hints & tips for gameplay.

TRIVIA: PANZA KICK BOXING was in development for over 2 years before release. The French programmers worked very closely with André Panza and the fighting moves of the kickboxers in-game were actually digitised from video footage of Panza himself. The graphics  taking up a "massive" 1.5MB disk space alone at the time of development had to be highly compressed/optimised to fit together with the game code & sound on to 2 floppies.

Notes

[1] Amiga conversion by Nicolas Massonnat. Original graphics by Marco de Flores; updated gfx by Christophe Perrotin and Isabelle Maury. Music/sound FX by Michel Winogradoff.

[2] BEST OF THE BEST: CHAMPIONSHIP KARATE is an enhanced version of PANZA KICK BOXING featuring additional characters and options.

[3] BEST OF THE BEST title has been choosen instead of Panza Kick Boxing 2, because Andre Panza was never paid by Loriciel for Panza Kick Boxing (they tricked him), and so they of course could not use again his likeness and name for the second version of the game (Source : Andre Panza himself in a video interview), this is why the game has been called Best of the Best.

Known releases: V1 (27-Apr-93), V2 (07-Jul-93)

Conversion Notes

Based on 1992 Loriciels PC (DOS) release.
PC versions: EGA, VGA

N.B. Released for Mega Drive-Genesis / Game Boy as "The Kick Boxing" and SNES as "Super Kick Boxing" in Japan.

The best moves to use are upper cut, round house, low leg kick. The low leg kick is useful for keeping your opponent out of range and on target for a round house followed by an upper cut. The double backfist is also very poweful and often provides a knockout punch. If you are losing a fight, and don’t have much chance of recovery, then press the ‘ESC’ key so that your stats remain intact.
