Notes

[1] After MicroProse's purchase of Telecomsoft in May 1989, a slightly enhanced version of RICK DANGEROUS was published on the MicroStyle label and allowed the player to choose any of the game's 4 levels. The original Firebird release did not give the player any choice whatsoever of levels.

[2] Budget Publisher: Kixx release No. 11 in the series of single disk dual-format (PC/Amiga) budget releases + standalone Amiga-only budget release. [N.B. these budget releases were the enhanced "choose-any-level" version of RICK DANGEROUS]

[3] The U.S. release of RICK DANGEROUS released by MicroPlay was marketed/distributed by Medalist International.

[4] The original release contained a black and white game poster, as well as a RICK DANGEROUS comic strip that was illustrated by Ian Gibson of 2000AD's Robo Hunter fame (see HERE).

[5] Interesting info. and trivia about RICK DANGEROUS can be found on game author Simon Phipps' website.

[6] Distributed in Germany by Rushware.

TRIVIA: Inspiration for RICK DANGEROUS was drawn from the swashbuckling 1980s/90s "Indiana Jones" adventure movies, particularly the first few minutes of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" where our favourite action hero archaeologist is seen leaping over pits, dodging poison darts and being chased by giant boulders. [Source: Simon Phipps(coder)]

Rick Dangerous was coded first for the ZX spectrum (screen size), with the C64 sprite size. The game was converted line by line from the Z80 source code to 68000 on the Atari ST, and then on the Amiga. The release of the game was multiplatform. [Source: Simon Phipps(coder)]
