Amiga OUT RUN was initially published in the U.S. in 1988 by Sega and distributed by Mindscape. A slightly different version was later released in Europe by U.S. Gold in early 1989.
Except for the sampled intro, the Amiga conversion was a direct port of the Atari ST release and was also coded by Probe.
The U.S. Gold release includes an audiotape containing the original Sega arcade soundtrack (see Miscshot scans).
Game no. 10 in the series of single disk Kixx budget releases for dual format PC/Amiga.
TRIVIA: Two slightly different versions of Amiga OUT RUN exist. The most obvious difference between the two versions concerns the copyright dates on the loading screen (i.e. © 1987 vs © 1988 - cf. screenshots). Other differences include Sega's 1988 version exhibiting a moving starfield on the loading screen, a demo more like the coin-op, a slower game timer and a different sequence to the game stages.
