Notes: | [1] Game design & coding by Mike, Pete & Nick Austin. 68000 adventure system written by Mike Austin; Amiga conversion by John Jones-Steele. Graphics by James Horsler. Text by Pete Austin.
[2] ADVENTURE QUEST, only available as part of the JEWELS OF DARKNESS compilation on the Amiga, enhances the original text-only incarnations released for 8-bit platforms by adding graphics, more extensive text descriptions, an extended parser that understands many more commands and other user-friendly features (e.g. multitasking, a quit back to WB option).
[3] ADVENTURE QUEST is the second installment in Level 9's Middle-Earth Trilogy, which also contained COLOSSAL ADVENTURE and DUNGEON ADVENTURE. The Middle-Earth Trilogy was later published in enhanced form as a compilation and renamed to JEWELS OF DARKNESS, albeit with references to Tolkien changed or removed, reportedly, for legal reasons.
TRIVIA: When originally released in 1982 on the Nascom and BBC Micro, ADVENTURE QUEST represented Level 9's first adventure game of their own design from scratch. |
