There is an easy way to defeat the dragon.

If you get too close to the dragon then he will raise his head and it will be difficult to hit him. If you are standing too far away from him, then he’ll fry you with his fire breath. Move away from the dragon and stop at the point where he lowers his head. Turn around and you should be able hit the dragon with the overhead chop (pressing up and the fire-button). If you don’t hit him, then you are standing too far away. Just try to move a little closer. When you have found the right distance then you’ll only have to move up or down to dodge his firebreath. It’s best to stay at the top or bottom of the screen and wait until he is nearly at your level. Now do one overhead chop and dodge the following breath attack by running to the other end of the screen. Repeat this until the dragon is slain.
