Established in 1984 by Kailash Ambwani in Toronto, Canada. GOLD DISK was best known for their word processing and graphics packages in earlier days for 16-bit machines such as the the Amiga, but later were more renowned for their multimedia software, MS PowerPoint plug-ins and video editing software (e.g. Video Director) for PC and Macintosh. In 1996, founder Kailash Ambwani formed Astound Inc., which purchased the Astound software product, one of the leading multimedia presentation software products of the time, as well as all other software products and technology owned by GOLD DISK.
